The first jazzconcert recorded and broadcast by AVRO radio was Duke Ellington as far back as 1933. The Jazz At The Philharmonic concerts, organized by Norman Granz, came to Holland’s concert halls in 1952 and were regularly broadcast by AVRO Television since 1958. They featured jazz giants like Lionel Hampton, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald and Oscar Peterson. The JATP concerts, the Newport Jazz Festivals and the North Sea Jazz Festivals recorded and broadcast by AVRO TV are featured on this World of Jazz Channel, as well as various TROS TV recordings such as TROS Sesjun.
