The L&H is Ireland's largest student society. In the past it has attracted a wide variety of guests including Hans Blix, Bill Bryson, Noam Chomsky, Will Ferrell, Michael Howard, Jesse Jackson, Michael Palin, Roger Moore, Patrick Stewart, J.K. Rowling. As a debating society the L&H has sent students to debating competition nationwide and in the past they have sent students to other countries in Europe, America and Asia.
