The Fourth Wall explores a new hybrid of the performing arts in which musicians are also dancers and actors. Stretching the boundaries of instrumental performance, TFW commissions new interdisciplinary works and reinterprets established repertoire to make music that leaps off the stage. The ensemble is comprised of flutist, Hilary Abigana; bass trombonist, C. Neil Parsons; and percussionist, Greg Jukes. As winners of the 2014 Savvy Musician in Action chamber music competition, TFW was featured as performers and workshop leaders for the innovative music entrepreneurship retreat. The trio was ensemble in residence for the University of Alaska, Fairbanks New Music Festival in 2013 and has been featured on New York and Indiana PAS Weekends of Percussion. TFW has taught at universities, colleges and conservatories from Alaska to Virginia, offering workshops that focus on integrating multiple performing arts disciplines in expanding creativity.
