State Senator Robert Jackson

State Senator Robert Jackson has made a lasting impact on the lives of his constituents in District 31. He represents 13 miles of Manhattan including Marble Hill. Inwood, Washington Heights, and parts of West Harlem, the Upper West Side, Hell’s Kitchen, and Chelsea. He is the first Muslim elected to the NYS Senate and is among the fifteen newly elected freshmen Senators that helped the Democrats win back the majority. Currently he chairs the Cities Committee and is a member of the Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic, and Asian American Caucus. He grew up in Northern Manhattan with 8 siblings and attended PS 186, later graduating from SUNY New Paltz. As a Community School Board President, Robert Jackson filed a lawsuit against the state to fix an inequitable New York State school funding distribution formula that was cheating NYC schools and undermining our children’s future.
