Jenova 7 is the musical nom de plume of Boston local Michael J. Sirois (born 1989). His genres include trip-hop, downtempo, chill-out & instrumental hip-hop. He is most recognized for the Dusted Jazz instrumental series, distinct for exploring jazz grooves, organic drum breaks & moody, cinematic vibes. His style is influenced by DJ Shadow, DJ Krush, DJ Cam & Portishead, as well as Golden Era hip-hop producers DJ Premier & Pete Rock. In 2010, after graduating from college with a degree in film, he moved to Los Angeles for a year & started releasing music with the trip-hop label Dusted Wax Kingdom. In 2013, he joined the Los Angeles based Cold Busted record label. A self-taught musician, his style has been inspired & guided by a versatile taste in music & a love for storytelling.
