Heike Matthiesen Stiftung

Heike Matthiesen (27.6.1964 – 22.12.2023) was a German recording concert classical guitarist, researcher and board member of Frauen Musik Archiv in Frankfurt. Heike´s artistic development was unique in the classical music scene: Changing from the piano to the guitar when she was 18, she began her studies at the Frankfurt College of Music and Dramatic Arts. Two years later she began to play with the Frankfurt Opera’s orchestra, and developed into a sought-after chamber musician. After receiving her diploma, she became a master-class pupil of Pepe Romero. Concerts as a soloist and chamber musician found Heike Matthiesen appearing in over 30 countries around the world. She recorded 5 CD showing her wide range of artistic capabilities, research and interest in pushing the boundaries including highlighting female composers and female aristiry
