The DireWolf Dog is a rare breed of dog started in the United States as a large breed companion dog. In 1988, Lois Schwarz, the founder, cross bred a purebred Malamute to a purebred German Shepherd dog. Later, she added English Mastiff and still later, the Anatolian and Great Pyrenees. The resulting breed is a gentle, calm, and devoted family companion dog that you can raise in any environment without worry of property destruction or fear biting or aggression. These dogs live 13 years on average and have minimal health care costs outside of the normal upkeep. They do not tend to bark unless threatened and are friendly with all. Bred to resemble what we believe as the "big bad wolf" look in our history's fairy tales and having the Dire wolf build, these dogs are beautiful and loving. A true companion.
